The Cuban head of State also reviewed the progress of the priorities established in the 9th Plenary Session of the PCC Central Committee, identifying achievements and challenges in such areas as food production, marketing and the role of communities in local development.
According to the Cadena Agramonte website, during the tour, accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, meetings were held in 134 centers, with the participation of more than 1,700 people, including representatives of People’s Councils, mass organizations and officials.
Local authorities presented a critical balance that highlighted the shortcomings in agricultural production, although they also recognized positive experiences, such as the work of the Sibanicú Fishing Unit and the Ruta Invasora Agroindustrial Company in Vertientes.
According to the publication, written by journalist Miozotis Fabelo, Díaz-Canel emphasized the need to take advantage of Camagüey’s potential, with an emphasis on political-ideological work, the application of science and innovation, as well as digital transformation, and underscored the contributions of the University of Camagüey in collaboration with China.
