This agreement ‘was formalized through the signing of a treaty that symbolizes the commitment’ of the Bolivarian Republic to support the self-determination of Palestine and its right to exist as a sovereign State, wrote Foreign Minister Yvan Gil in Telegram.
He stressed that it is a commitment renewed, year after year, by President Nicolas Maduro, who ‘has been one of the main voices in defending the Palestinian cause’.
At the same time, he said, he continues to promote exchange in culture, education and economy, strengthening the historical and solidarity ties between the two sister nations.
The Bolivarian Republic recognized the State of Palestine on April 27, 2009 and established diplomatic relations.
Since then, they have signed cooperation agreements in the fields of education, economy, trade, energy, agriculture, culture, tourism, communication, sports, defense, security and health.
The Venezuelan Government firmly supports in different international scenarios the rights of the Palestinian people in the face of Israel’s illegal occupation and incessant attacks in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
