Upon his arrival last night in the Dominican Republic’s capital, Lavrov was welcomed at Las Américas International Airport by the Deputy Minister of Bilateral Foreign Policy, Francisco Caraballo; the ambassador-designate of the Russian Federation, Alexey Seredin; and the ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Russia, Alejandro Arias.
This Wednesday, the Russian foreign minister will pay a courtesy visit to President Luis Abinader and will later inaugurate the Russian embassy in Santo Domingo, following the appointment of Seredin, who presented his credentials to Minister Álvarez on April 14.
Lavrov’s visit coincides with the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on March 8, 1945.
