Vietnam’s Party General Secretary reaffirms willingess to assist Cuba

Hanoi, Apr 30 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam's top Party leader, To Lam, reaffirmed to Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés his determination and readiness in everything possible to assist and support Cuba.

In a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City, the Party General Secretary expressed that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people stand in solidarity and share the difficulties and challenges facing Cuba. “Vietnam always treasures and remembers the solidarity and sincere support, both spiritual and material, that Cuba provided Vietnam during its struggle for liberation and national reunification, as well as in the current cause of the defense and construction of the country,” he noted.

After recalling the good impressions and special feelings he felt during his trip to Havana last September, To Lam expressed his confidence that the heroic people of Cuba will overcome all difficulties and continue to achieve success in building socialism in the Western Hemisphere under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

Valdés, in turn, congratulated Vietnam on the successful organization of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. He noted that the atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy, as well as the people’s firm belief in the leadership of the CPV and the State, is clearly felt. This is an important foundation for Vietnam to consolidate great national unity and foster its strength to become a developed high-income country.

In a comradely atmosphere, both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the strengthening of solidarity between the two countries, the special friendship, and the comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, states, and peoples of both countries, especially in strategic and priority areas such as rice production, fisheries, renewable energy, and biotechnology.

The parties also discussed a series of measures to promote bilateral economic cooperation to make it more substantial and effective, with a determination to ensure that trade and investment ties are in line with their good political relations.

Valdés was received the day before by Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, who emphasized the importance of the presence of a high-level Cuban delegation at the commemoration of the Spring 1975 victory, a symbol of the unwavering solidarity between the two countries.
