Medvedev thanked Diaz-Canel and his delegation for being in Russia to participate in the events marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany.
He also stressed that the current visit of the president of the Caribbean nation will strengthen the development of ties between the two countries. Medvedev considered them a solid foundation of friendship, solidarity and mutual respect.
“We have very good interstate relations, which are of a regular nature. All colleagues, ministries and the government are working on it,” the former Russian president stressed.
For his part, Diaz-Canel reviewed with Medvedev issues of international interest and denounced the emergence of new expressions of fascism and attempts to rewrite history.
This is aimed at minimizing the role of the people of the Soviet Union and the Red Army in the victory over Nazism.
That is why, it is so important to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, noted the Cuban head of state.
He also said that the Cuban people do know who won World War II and on whose side the truth is, regardless of what the U.S. says.
Diaz-Canel arrived at Moscow on May 6, and on Wednesday, together with the chairwoman of the Federation Council (Senate) Valentina Matvienko, inaugurated an exhibition dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Russia and Cuba.
