Laurent Burin Des Roziers, French ambassador in Havana, said at a press conference that despite some differences, Cuba and Martinique share important heritages thanks to geography and history, marked by miscegenation and creolization.
The ties between the two countries are longstanding, but this is the first time such a complete overview of Martinican culture is being presented, said Burin Des Roziers, who thanked different institutions for their collaboration in this great event.
This ninth edition will also be dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Frantz Fanon (1925-1961), renowned French psychiatrist, philosopher and writer born in Martinique, author of the works “The Damned of the Earth” and “Black Skin, White Masks”.
Eighteen activities related to dance, photography, fine arts, literature and music from the Caribbean island will take place in Havana until May 30.
