In an official message issued in this capital, the Sudanese Government accused the UAE of endangering the country’s sovereignty, security, and regional stability.
The decision comes after several days of attacks by the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the airport and several facilities in Port Sudan, a strategic city on the Red Sea shores, headquarters of governmental, diplomatic, and military institutions, and the main entry point for humanitarian aid to the country.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, following a power struggle between Army Chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF leader, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
The fighting has also destroyed countless livelihoods, plunging the country into a complex spiral of hunger and death.
