Diaz-Canel, who arrived in Russia on an official visit on May 4, leading a delegation, is one of more than 30 heads of State or Government who are in this capital to commemorate the memorable event.
The Cuban president held on Thursday a meeting with members of the Caribbean nation’s State Mission in Moscow, where he expressed the importance of participating in the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s Victory over fascism, when attempts are being made to distort history.
The head of State also visited the Moskvich car factory, where Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin donated 10 cars to Cuba for social services in Havana.
Later, Diaz-Canel and his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, on behalf of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, ALBA-TCP, paid tribute to Liberator Simon Bolivar in the square that bears his name in the Moscow region of Gagarin.
