India and Iran boost cooperation in medical products and customs

New Delhi, May 9 (Prensa Latina) India and Iran signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) on medical products regulation and implementation of the bilateral agreement on Customs Cooperation, the External Affairs Ministry informed on Friday.

Delegations from both countries inked the mechanisms during the 20th India-Iran Joint Commission Meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday, co-chaired by Foreign Ministers Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Abbas Araghchi.

The diplomatic institution stated that the two sides reviewed the bilateral relations, including cooperation in trade and economic matters, agriculture, health, cultural exchanges, connectivity, and people-to-people ties.

Regional and global developments of mutual interest were also discussed.

The Indian side briefed the Iranian delegation on the cross-border links of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the diplomatic source stated.

Both delegations condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and urged strengthening regional cooperation to combat this threat, the official release states.

This was Araghchi’s first visit to India after taking office in August 2024.
