New attacks by Daesh terrorist group reported in Syria

Damascus, May 9 (Prensa Latina) – The Kurdish militia Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced today that they had thwarted two attacks by the terrorist group Islamic State (ISIS, or Daesh in Arabic) in the province of Deir Ezzor, located 450 kilometers northeast of Damascus, the Syrian capital.

In a statement, the SDF clarified that the first attack targeted a military post belonging to the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the town of Dhiban, where machine guns were used, while the second attack was carried out with RPG shells, targeting an SDF military vehicle in the town of Jdeidet Akidat.

The note indicated that the two actions did not result in losses among the ranks of the Kurdish formation, while several Daesh members were wounded during the clashes.

Last week, the SDF announced the death of three of its members following an attack by unidentified gunmen on a military headquarters in the town of al-Bahra, eastern Deir Ezzor province.

The Daesh group escalated since the beginning of this year, its terrorist actions in the northeastern areas of Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH).
