In declarations to the press, people of these groups, such as professor Fernando Ábrego and the general secretary of the construction workers union, Saúl Méndez, indicated that they will maintain an indefinite strike initiated last April 23 by the teachers.
Ábrego described as betrayal to the Nation the support given by 48 deputies to the so-called Law 462 on reforms to the state Social Security Fund (CSS), which affects workers and their families, since it privatizes services and hands over funds to public and private banks.
Regarding the issue, Méndez refuted the position of the head of State, José Raúl Mulino, the day before, who affirmed that he would not come to dialogue with the groups on the insurance issue.
For the also former presidential candidate in 2019, it is up to the people with their mobilizations to open the democratic channels to annul Law 462 and put an end to the government’s arbitrariness.
