These challenges and the commitment of the peasant and cooperative movement to feeding the people will be the starting point of the XIII Congress of this organization, which will take place next May 16 and 17.
According to ANAP president, Félix Duarte, “this Congress will be the room to analyze concrete difficulties, socialize best practices and outline strategies towards food sovereignty”.
Speaking the day before on the television program Mesa Redonda, he assured that the Cuban farmers, with their wisdom and dedication, are called to be a fundamental protagonist in the solution of the food challenge that the Caribbean nation faces.
The meeting will be held at the International Conference Center of this capital with the participation of some 400 delegates and 100 guests.
Duarte explained that the first day of the event will analyze food production, the functioning of ANAP and the political-ideological work with the membership, their families and communities.
Likewise, he said, the new statutes of the organization will be submitted for approval and the new National Committee will be elected by all the delegates.
He explained that on the 17th, Peasant’s Day, which commemorates the signing of the First Agrarian Reform Law, the main report will be discussed and approved in final plenary session.
