In a ceremony held this Thursday in Quito, electoral authorities presented Noboa and his vice president, María José Pinto, with their respective appointment documents, thereby enabling them to lead the Executive Branch from 2025 to 2029.
The inauguration of the pair for the new term will take place on May 24 at the headquarters of the National Assembly, according to the national and international press.
Noboa and Pinto received a total of 5,870,618 votes, corresponding to 55.63 percent of the electorate, after which they were declared winners of the second round of voting against candidate Luisa González, of the Citizen Revolution-Total Renewal (RC-RETO) alliance.
González reiterated on Wednesday the allegation of electoral fraud in the elections and described what happened during the electoral process as “institutional fraud.” “There was no transparency from the National Electoral Council (CNE),” she stated. For the former candidate, there is coordination between that institution and the Electoral Contentious Tribunal (TCE) with the government, which “requests, orders, and those bodies abide by its orders.”
Additionally, Francisco Estarellas, RC’s attorney general, noted that he has made 34 requests to the CNE and the TCE since April 19, but they have not been addressed. Although the results that declared Noboa the winner have already been officially announced, Estarellas reported that this week he submitted three new requests to the CNE seeking to verify the irregularities detected.
