Last night, Dominican President Luis Abinader, while opening the summit, stated that “the judiciary, when firm in its principles, agile in its processes, and close to the citizenry, becomes one of the strongest pillars of democracy.”
Abinader highlighted the reforms undertaken by his government to make the judicial system an essential public service, focused on equity, respect for fundamental rights, and guaranteed access for all.
For the head of State, it is possible to achieve a justice system that contributes to social cohesion, institutional stability, and lasting peace, while deepening cooperation between countries.
This Thursday and Friday, the meeting will focus on three main areas: a more efficient justice system; more inclusive, so that all citizens have access without distinction; and more reliable.
The head of the country’s Judiciary, Luis Henry Molina, said the goal is to “achieve balance, coherence, respect, and a shared sense of dignity in our justice systems.”
