A Presidency of the Council of Ministers statement highlights the importance of this visit to the Albanian capital, where the sixth edition of the EPC summit will be held, featuring the leaders of the 27 European Union (EU) member countries and 20 other nations of the region.
On the sidelines of this event, Meloni and Rama will meet to address strategic cooperation in defense, security, energy, civil and environmental protection, health, management of migratory flows, and economic and infrastructural development, among other issues.
After the meeting, a Joint Declaration will be adopted to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries, with particular emphasis on implementing the protocol on the management of migratory flows.
Italian exports to Albania reached a value of 1.8 billion euros in 2024, for a 4.6 percent increase over the previous year, while imports reached 1.4 billion euros, with a year-on-year reduction of 9.5 percentage points.
This Friday’s regional political summit, in which Meloni will also participate, aims, according to a release issued by its organizers, to promote political dialogue and cooperation in the interest of strengthening the European continent’s security, stability, and prosperity.
