Experts suggest cause of tragedy in Indian plane crash

New Delhi, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) The emergency power system of the flight that crashed in India on June 12, was activated shortly before the tragic accident, a newspaper report citing investigators reveals.

Experts told The World Street Journal that raises serious doubts about the proper operation of the engines during takeoff.

They noted that the activation of the emergency power system indicates a loss of engine power or a total electrical failure.

Earlier, it was learned that the pilot gave a distress signal, claiming “lack of thrust” and that he “could not lift” the aircraft, and automatically air traffic control lost contact with the Air India Boeing 787 Dremliner.

In critical situations, the Ram Air Turbine (known as RAT), a small turbine driven from the aircraft fuselage, generates emergency power.

The pilot can activate it automatically or manually to keep the aircraft operational in the event of both engine failures or a drop in hydraulic pressure, according to the published information.

Similarly, the system also turns on if the cockpit instruments lose power or if the electric motor pumps stop working, experts said.

Investigators told the newspaper that while a breakthrough has been made, the investigation is still ongoing.

It has not yet been confirmed what triggered the emergency system, whether it was engine failure, hydraulic failure or other technical problems, the newspaper said.

The aircraft’s wings and control surfaces were properly configured for takeoff, the news outlet said.

Air accident investigations usually take a year or more due to a variety of factors to analyze, such as possible maintenance errors, crew errors or design flaws, it said.
