Former Bolsonaro advisor jailed in Brazil for violating court order

Brasília, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) Colonel Marcelo Câmara, former advisor to former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, was arrested today by order of the Supreme Court after violating a court order prohibiting him from using social networks or interacting with defendants in the coup plot.

The Federal Police informed Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), that Câmara will remain imprisoned in the facilities of the Army Police Battalion, in Brasília.

The arrest was ordered by De Moraes and was carried out at Câmara’s residence, located in the city of Sobradinho, in the Federal District.

The colonel’s lawyer, Eduardo Kuntz, informed the Supreme Court that his client was contacted through social networks by Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp.

The two interacted, which represents an explicit violation of the restrictions imposed by Justice.

Kuntz tried to take advantage of that conversation to request the annulment of Cid’s plea bargain, which provoked a harsh reaction from De Moraes.

In his ruling, the magistrate accused the lawyer of “illegally exceeding the legal obligations of the defense” and described as extremely serious the possible attempt to obstruct the investigation into the violent conspiracy in 2022.
