In a statement, the union recalled that since the beginning of the aggression against the coastal enclave, in October 2023, the army killed 137 workers in the sector.

The Syndicate’s Freedoms Committee stressed that during that month some 250 journalists were forced to flee their homes in Gaza, most of them in the southern city of Khan Yunis.

Fourteen cases of brutal beatings of Palestinian journalists by occupation soldiers and settlers in the West Bank were monitored and documented, it said.

The report revealed numerous cases of arrest, 15 cases of tear gas asphyxiation, five cases of threats to shoot and four cases of being run over.

Recently, the agency noted that since the beginning of the war at least 180 Palestinian journalists have been arrested, of whom 48 are still behind bars.

This country maintains a policy of forced disappearance, warned the institution, which cited as an example the cases of journalists Nidal Al-Wahidi and Haitham Abdul Wahid, whose whereabouts are unknown.
