The performance will be “Afanador,” and the money collected will go to UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) for humanitarian work in Gaza.
The event’s organizers will also set up a “zero line” for those who wish to contribute to UNRWA’s humanitarian response in Gaza without attending the show.
The initiative is being promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM) at a critical time when more than two million Gazans are suffering the consequences of more than 20 months of Israeli military offensive.
The Spanish Ministry of Culture stated that the population in Gaza is facing a critical situation, with extremely restricted access to food and water and a growing risk of famine.
“Afanador” is a Spanish and contemporary dance show, created and directed by Marcos Morau. The performance is based on Ruven Afanador’s photographic works on flamenco, collected in his works “Angel Gitano” (Gypsy Angel) and “Mil Besos” (A Thousand Kisses).
