Selassie and Lourenco met within the framework of the 17th United States-Africa Business Summit, which is taking place in Luanda, the capital of Angola, from June 22 to 25, to discuss areas in which they could expand and strengthen their ties.
Zerihun Abebe, Director General of African Affairs at the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry, revealed that both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening ties through institutional structures and agreed to revitalize immediately the previously established joint ministerial committee.
Abebe added that the parties agreed to instruct their ministers to implement the committee promptly.
Other issues discussed during the meeting included ways to enhance Africa’s role on the international stage, particularly the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reform, he added.
