Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun reiterated the country’s opposition to these unilateral measures, which “lack basis in international law and have not been authorized by the United Nations Security Council.”
According to the spokesperson, Beijing has always acted responsibly in relation to the Ukraine crisis, promoting dialogue and a peaceful resolution to the conflict, without providing lethal weapons to either party, while maintaining strict controls on the export of dual-use goods.
Guo also noted that normal cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies should not be affected by external political measures and affirmed that such business ties are legitimate and comply with international norms.
“We urge the European Union to stop harming the legitimate interests of Chinese companies in the absence of concrete evidence. China will take the necessary measures to firmly defend the legitimate rights and interests of its companies,” the spokesperson stated.
According to the spokesperson, the EU’s actions are contrary to the consensus reached by Chinese and European leaders and will negatively impact economic and trade relations, as well as financial cooperation between the two sides.
