Haitian police with million-dollar budget, but no results

Port-au-Prince, July 25 (Prensa Latina) The Haitian National Police remains without tangible results in the fight against gangs, despite having a budget of 1,340,909 US dollars.

This financial resource was granted to carry out field operations between June and August of this year, according to the Ministry of Finance in correspondence with the Minister of Justice and Public Security.

However, despite this investment, gangs continue to strengthen their presence, leaving the population exposed to growing insecurity.

A total of 45 million gourdes (340,909 US dollars) were allocated to the town of Kenscoff alone, and 29 million gourdes (219,696 US dollars) to Mirebalais, and the situation remains unimproved.

Such a failure, local radio stations reported, made the head of the Haitian National Police, Rameau Normil, a target of criticism.

He had already lost credibility in the same position between 2019 and 2020. Now, in 2025, citizens are living in a situation of increasing vulnerability and are once again blaming him.
