The volume was organized and edited by Jaime Gomez Triana, vice president of the cultural institution based in Havana, and Ana Niria Albo Diaz, a specialist at the center, the Cuban chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity (REDH) reported on its website.
The compilation comes on the 72nd anniversary of the Moncada Barracks assault (July 26, 1953), a transcendental action in Cuba’s insurrectionary history in which this Cuban revolutionary (1922-1980) participated, and just days before the 45th anniversary of her death, on July 28.
Casa de las Americas, the institution Haydee Santamaria ran since its founding, makes this volume available “to lovers of the history of the Cuban Revolution and those interested in the cultural future of Our America,” the note adds.
The work includes speeches, interviews, letters, and various writings by the Cuban intellectual and promoter. “We also share this book as a tribute to the centennial generation, to the martyrs and heroes of the homeland, and to all the men and women of this nation who supported, with determination and courage, the struggles for Cuba’s definitive independence,” the text concludes.
