Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister held talks with FAO Director General

Addis Ababa, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, met with the director general of FAO, Qu Dongyu, on the sidelines of the 2nd UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake. According to the Cuban embassy on its Facebook profile, Tapia Fonseca thanked the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for its historical and sustained cooperation with Cuba in key areas such as food security, sustainable agriculture and national capacity building.

Both parties agreed on the need to continue deepening collaboration ties to face today’s global challenges, the publication concluded.

The Cuban Deputy Prime Minister, in addition to his participation in the high-level UN event organized by the governments of Ethiopia and Italy from July 27-29, held official talks with his Ethiopian counterpart, Temesgen Tiruneh, and with State Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadera Abera.

The meetings served to deepen the long-standing ties of friendship between Havana and Addis Ababa, as well as to explore new areas of cooperation.
