“Russia and the United States are close neighbors and share a border. And it seems entirely logical that our delegation will simply cross the Bering Strait and an important and long-awaited summit between the two presidents will be held in Alaska,” Ushakov told reporters.
The senior Russian official stated that Putin and Trump will focus on analyzing options for achieving a long-term solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
He also recalled that the two countries’ economic interests intersect in Alaska and the Arctic, and there are prospects for implementing large-scale, mutually beneficial projects.
Ushakov added, “Of course, Moscow and Washington will devote the coming days to more actively and intensively developing the practical and political parameters of the summit in Alaska. It appears it will not be an easy process, but we will work actively and intensively on it.”
