“We will not allow those who oppose work, security, and peace to overturn laws passed to defeat terrorism, corruption, and poverty,” Noboa emphasized at public events held last week to ratify the call for the mobilization. The legislative bloc of the Revolucion Ciudadana (Citizen’s Revolution-RC) movement, the main opposition force, assured that it will conduct “oversight actions” to prevent the use of public resources in the demonstration.
“With a history of using public resources to benefit the Government party, we announce from the Citizens’ party that we will take all necessary oversight actions to prevent the assets of Ecuadorians from being used to feed personal egos,” the RC said in a statement.
Founded by former President Rafael Correa (2007-2017), the organization noted that the popular drive on the streets, the defense of democracy and rights, have always emerged from the causes.
Noboa rejected the Constitutional Court’s decision to halt partially the Intelligence Law, the Public Integrity Law, and the National Solidarity Law, which were approved by the National Assembly (Parliament) but face 20 lawsuits alleging unconstitutionality.
