The protesters, mostly Syrian journalists and media professionals, gathered in the iconic Umayyad Square in Damascus, the Syrian capital, as well as in the governorates of Hama, Homs, Aleppo, and Idlib.
They raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans against the Israeli occupation. They also carried banners with messages such as “Freedom for Gaza” and “Palestine is not alone.”
The participants demanded urgent action from the international community to stop the Israeli aggression and reiterated their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
They denounced the murder of their Palestinian colleagues by Israel in Gaza and asserted that Syrians share the Palestinians’ pain.
Last Sunday, Israel killed six journalists, including four from the Qatari network Al Jazeera, by bombing a tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
To date, 273 Palestinian journalists have lost their lives in Gaza Strip due to the Israeli offensive that began in October 2023.
