Kiev, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky announced that he plans to travel to the United States to meet with President Donald Trump in Washington on August 18.

“I will discuss all the details to end the conflict with President Trump in Washington on Monday. I appreciate the invitation,” Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel after a phone conversation with Trump and European leaders.

Zelensky added that the conversation lasted an hour and a half and was informative. Trump outlined the main points of the negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

“We support Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia. Ukraine emphasizes that key issues can be discussed at the leaders’ level, and the trilateral format is suitable for that,” the politician emphasized.

He also stressed the importance of Europe’s participation at all stages to reliably ensure security alongside the United States.

On August 15, Putin and Trump met at a military base in Alaska. The meeting lasted approximately three hours. Also in attendance on the Russian side were presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

In comments following the talks, Putin stated that resolving the Ukrainian conflict was the main topic of the summit. The Russian leader also called for a turning point in bilateral relations with the United States and the resumption of cooperation, and invited Trump to visit Moscow.

For his part, Trump called the meeting very successful, emphasizing that many positions had been agreed upon and that future actions would depend on Kiev. He also expressed confidence in the possibility of reaching an agreement on Ukraine in the near future.
