Senator Fernando Gonzalez, a long-time leader of the Socialist Party (PS), considered that the tax on the richest one percent is fair and a way for those with the most to pay more.
He noted that it would contribute to developing the Broad Front’s program against poverty among children and women and to deploying a national vision that provides jobs and decent wages for workers.
Talking about the debates in the PS Congress, Gonzalez expressed: “We raised some issues that we consider fundamental for the future of the country, which is to work for the unity of the left with proposals that make it possible to fulfill the entire Broad Front program.”
The PS places the “paradigm of the community, its organization, and its self-management” as its “concept, path, and horizon,” because it believes that “participation and popular power are at the heart of the urgent change the country needs.”
To implement these actions, resources are needed. That is why we insist on the need to advance tax justice, as established in our FA’s program,” states the final declaration of the congress.
