It is a multi-layered air defense system that includes fast-reaction surface-to-air missiles, advanced very short range missiles and a high-powered laser-based targeted energy weapon, explains a statement from the military entity.

Its operation was controlled by a Centralized Command and Control Center of the Defense Research and Development Laboratory (DRL), the source said.

During the test, two high-speed fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles and a multicopter drone were simultaneously destroyed by the different weapons that comprise the system.

All components of the weapons system, including missile systems, the drone detection and destruction system, the command and control of the weapons system, along with communications and radars, worked perfectly, said the Ministry of Defense.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, the Armed Forces and the industry for the successful development of the Iadws.
