The play “Cenicienta… segun los Beatles” (Cinderella … according to the Beatles), a revamped version of the classic fairy tale accompanied by the immortal songs of the legendary British group, was this time the piece with which the children’s group performed at the Ho Guom Theater in the capital, which defined the performance as a hymn to optimism.
The cultural institution commented on its Facebook profile that with their performance on Tuesday evening, the young actors “took the audience back to a lively, innocent, and joyful childhood.”
It emphasized that the most unforgettable moment was when a Cuban child clearly raised his voice to exclaim “Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City,” and the audience responded with applause, singing the song “As if Uncle Ho were there on the Day of the Great Victory,” by Vietnamese composer Pham Tuyen.
The excellent performance of La Colmenita was “an affirmation of the unity and strong vitality of the friendship between Vietnam and Cuba for 65 years,” it concluded.
This is the second time the Cuban children’s theater troupe La Colmenita has performed in Vietnam. The first was in 2014, when the group participated in the renowned Hue Festival.
