The ban imposed by the Israeli authorities on humanitarian aid must be lifted, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (Unrwa) wrote on social network X.
“We are ready to continue our work. Our warehouses in Egypt and Jordan are stocked, ready to fill around six thousand trucks,” the institution stressed.
The agency assured that it has a system that allows it to give out aid safely and on a large scale.
A few days ago, the director general of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir al-Barash, denounced the high levels of famine in the territory.
In statements to Al Jazeera television, the official cited UN data, according to which half a million people live there in a state of “catastrophic hunger”. A million more, almost half of the enclave’s population, are in a state of emergency in the fourth phase of famine, and 20 percent in the third, he stressed.
