This will be the largest SCO summit since its founding 24 years ago, according to official sources.
More than 20 world leaders and senior representatives from 10 international institutions will take part in the event on August 31 and September 1.
The prime ministers of Egypt and Cambodia, as well as the interim president of Myanmar, are already in China, while the Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to arrive in the coming hours, meanwhile Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was already received there.
Xi Jinping will chair the meeting of the Council of Heads of State and the SCO Plus session, where they will discuss topics such as promoting the so-called “Shanghai Spirit,” improving internal mechanisms, and multilateral cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the joint signing of the Tianjin Declaration, the adoption of a 2026-2035 development strategy, and the publication of documents on security, economic, and cultural cooperation are expected.
