During an event in Havana organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and the Cuban chapter of the Anti-Fascist International, the country reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Venezuelan people.

After participating in the event that brought together intellectuals, activists, and representatives of solidarity movements, Rafael Hidalgo, a researcher at the Ernesto “Che” Guevara Study Center, told several media outlets, including Prensa Latina, that defending Venezuela today is a matter of dignity for all of Latin America.

He asserted that the Venezuelan leadership has demonstrated the ability to confront the US policy of aggression with firmness, clarity, and foresight. The Bolivarian people have bravely and unitedly resisted pressure and the economic blockade, and this resistance is an example of how one can oppose interventionism without giving in to blackmail, he emphasized.

Faced with this imperial onslaught, Hidalgo affirmed, it is vital that Venezuela has demonstrated unwavering firmness in the face of a new provocation by the United States government to impose its hegemony through military threats and diplomatic maneuvers, but it has met with a resounding response.

“They should have learned the immediate lesson that the people are going to fight,” he emphasized, while warning of the real danger of regionalizing the conflict in Latin America. In his opinion, it will not be easy for the empire to impose a military operation, given the continental resistance.

The Cuban researcher emphasized that Venezuela, to a large extent, has helped to trigger an unprecedented wave of continental solidarity. He asserted that politically conscious sectors in Latin America have now gained a more precise understanding of the arbitrariness of the US government.
