“A relationship so exceptional has been forged between Vietnam and Cuba that it has stood the test of time and has become an obligatory reference for friendship and cooperation, particularly in times of enormous challenges for peace,” he emphasized at a commemorative event marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Diaz-Canel noted that this unique bond transcends formalities and protocols because it is born and affirmed in very deep traditions and identities, forged in the days when the Cuban Solidarity Committee consistently denounced the crimes of imperialism in Vietnam.
That brotherhood, he noted, became even more intimate when the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, assured a huge crowd that for Vietnam we were willing to give even our own blood.
The Cuban head of State affirmed that today these ties are strengthened in all spheres: party, parliamentary, defense and security, judicial, labor, women’s, and young communist organizations, and solidarity.
