The two day event held at Olof Palme Convention Center in Managua, served for those interested in applying for a home, learning about construction systems, and conducting their analysis through commercial banking came together.
Gabriela Palacios, co-director of the Nicaraguan Institute of Urban and Rural Housing (Invur), described the event as a space of opportunity and commented that over the weekend, 300 people made reservations for their future homes, while another 400 pre-qualified with financial institutions.
“There are mortgage loans offered through commercial banks, but we, through our affordable housing trust, continue to provide loans, and that’s why we’ve received around 300 reservations during these two days of the fair, both for affordable housing and housing for different segments of the population,” the official emphasized.
According to reports, 32 housing projects participated in the fair, including the Bismarck Martinez program, 307 homes in INVUR projects in Nagarote, Esteli, and Chinandega, as well as 250 Nuevas Victorias Apartments, totaling 1,377 properties.
According to Palacios, with support from China, Nicaragua is making progress in housing construction in the Nuevas Victorias Urbanization. The first phase of the project was completed with the construction of 920 homes, which will be delivered this month to eligible families.
Housing projects are among the Sandinista government’s priorities for advancing its fight against poverty and promoting human development. Therefore, they have the strategic goal of completing 7,696 homes nationwide, of which 4,151 had been built and improved by the end of July.
