Erdogan: The voice of Palestine cannot be silenced

Ankara, Sept 2 (Prensa Latina) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated his support for the Palestinian cause and asserted that “it is impossible to silence the voice of Palestine.”

He also criticized Washington’s decision to revoke the visas of several members of the Palestinian delegation scheduled to attend the upcoming UN General Assembly.

Speaking to reporters upon his return from China, where he participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, the president warned that the massacres perpetrated by Israel “will never be forgotten” and that “the righteous will never forget how children and parents were murdered in Palestine.”

Erdogan stated that the Palestinian issue will dominate the debates of the General Assembly in New York, while stressing that the exclusion of Palestinian representatives “only pleases Israel” and contradicts the very purpose of the United Nations.

In this context, he announced his intention to discuss the US decision and its impact on the UN meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The Turkish leader urged Washington to “say enough” to the massacres in Gaza and denounced the double standards of Western powers in the face of humanitarian crises.

He argued that “we have not shown even a quarter of the same treatment of innocent people in Gaza as we have in Ukraine.”
