On August 22, Slovakia and Hungary filed a complaint with the European Commission regarding at least three recent attacks by the Ukrainian military on the Druzhba pipeline, and requested security guarantees from Brussels.

The pipeline originates in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, passes through the Samara and Bryansk provinces, and then branches into two sections: one through Belarus, Poland, and Germany, and the other through Ukraine, through the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.
