Air Force officer Ehimen Ejodame said the area was bombed by military aircraft the day before, during a special mission carried out with precision.

Ejodame provided the information in a statement reported by local media, adding that the Islamist cell was located west of Zuwa, in the Sambisa forest area.

According to the spokesperson, the operation was devastating for the radical extremists and destroyed their operations center, although he did not specify the origin or name of the Islamist group attacked.

The Boko Haram factions and its splinter group, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), operate in that region of Nigeria.

These Islamist groups, in addition to their attacks on military bases and central government officials in Nigeria, are expanding their operations to Chad, Niger, Mali, and northern Cameroon.
