The leadership of the PN made the decision after the Justice formalized the indictment of former councilors Jose Luis Sanchez and Darwin Carlos Correa Acosta, and declared Alejandro Infante in absentia for not appearing at the hearing.

The political force ordered the “immediate suspension of the party rights” for those involved, who will not be able to “exercise political representation or hold positions in the name of the Party while the judicial process is being substantiated”.

Correa is charged for a continuous crime of especially aggravated fraud in competition with a continuous crime of ideological falsification by a public official.

Sanchez is being investigated for the alleged commission of the same type of crimes, also as co-perpetrator.

The irregularity was revealed after it was discovered that the money spent on alleged remodeling works of the Departmental Board (about US$ 32,700) went to the account of the son of former president Sanchez.

The owner of the company, Ramon Sosa, declared that he never worked for the board. He also said that he knew Sanchez and that he had borrowed empty invoices from him.
