Upon updating the information, the humanitarian social organization stated that, fo far it had received about 1,970,000 contributions from individuals and institutions, totaling 397.8 billion dong (almost more than 15.011 million dollars).
“Millions of hearts have written the harmony of the song 65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Love,” the organization commented on its Facebook profile.
The campaign to support the Cuban people was launched by the Red Cross of Vietnam on August 13, on Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s 99th birthday, in the context of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year, and the 65th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
At the launching ceremony, Do Van Chien, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, underscored that this initiative demonstrates the Vietnamese people’s tradition of humanity and the deep friendship between the two countries.
The initial goal of the campaign, which will run until October 16, was to raise 65 billion dong, and it was achieved in just 30 hours.
