“It is really one of the largest energy projects in the world,” the president said at the 10th Eastern Economic Forum being held in Vladivostok (September 3 to 6) and attended by delegations from more than 70 countries.
On September 2, Russian gas giant Gazprom company signed a binding document with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) for the construction of the pipeline that will transport 50 billion cubic meters of gas annually to China for 30 years through the territory of Mongolia.
Putin stressed that the project will benefit all parties involved. The Chinese company will pay the market price for the gas to be supplied through the Siberian Force 2 pipeline, the president confirmed.
The Siberian Force 2 project includes the construction of a gas pipeline of some six thousand 700 kilometers in length, of which two thousand 700 will pass through Russian territory, some 960 kilometers through Mongolia and the rest, more than three thousand kilometers, through China.
