Szijjárto attributed this situation to the continuous violations of the rights of the Hungarian minority residing in the Transcarpathian region.
It is clear that it is not Hungary that has taken away rights from Ukrainians in our country, but the Ukrainian state deprives Hungarians of them, Szijjjarto said at a press conference.
He pointed out that Kiev must take responsibility for these actions affecting the Magyar community.
Budapest accuses the Ukrainian authorities of curtailing the right of this ethnic group to use their mother tongue in the cultural and educational spheres.
Meanwhile, experts consider this dispute to be a significant obstacle to Ukraine’s European aspirations.
The Hungarian government, the source of these statements, has warned on multiple occasions that it will block Ukrainian accession to the European Union until these disputes are resolved.
