Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that China, after eliminating extreme poverty, is working to help other developing countries overcome this challenge.
The spokesman also stressed that the country took 800 million people out of poverty, which met in advance the goal of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Lin Jian noted that the Belt and Road Initiative helped more than 40 million people escape this scourge.
He also noted that the Global Development Initiative mobilized funds and consensus for more effective international cooperation.
The spokesman listed concrete projects such as well-drilling, road and bridge construction, mushroom cultivation and hybrid rice in different nations with China’s support.
He stated that these projects, large and small, improved the lives of many people in countries of the Global South.
“On the way to eliminate poverty, no one should be left behind,” said the spokesman, adding that China will continue its collaboration so that “every piece of land harbors hope”.
