In a statement on the occasion of South-South Cooperation Day, the UN Secretary-General stressed the importance that, in an increasingly multipolar world, developing countries are demonstrating extraordinary resilience and ingenuity, not only in responding to crises, but also by driving transformation.
They are creating bold, local solutions and sharing them across borders, such as climate-smart agriculture, green technologies, digital finance and advances in health.
This is forged in mutual respect, shared learning and a common purpose, he added.
He also noted that South-South and triangular cooperation are vital drivers of progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
We also recognize the responsibility of other countries to help address growing inequalities and advance development.
As we commemorate this important day, let us celebrate collaboration as a catalyst for revitalized multilateralism and building a more inclusive and equitable world for all, he said.
