In an interview with the Syrian news channel Ikhbariya TV, the head of state stressed that ties with Moscow span in several sectors and represent a legacy that must be preserved with balance, strategic vision and mutual respect.

We must face the challenges of the past with dynamism, but without remaining anchored in it.

The fundamental thing is that our relations should be based on Syrian sovereignty and independence in decision-making, always prioritizing national interests, he said.

Al-Shara maintained that any transformation in the structure of the state must be framed within a clear and defined strategy, and stressed that it is in Syria’s interest to maintain stable and serene relations with Russia, without neglecting its broader international positioning.

In this regard, he remarked that Damascus has managed to maintain good relations with the United States and Western countries, while strengthening its ties with regional nations such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq. He also highlighted important advances in cooperation with Egypt.

Damasco, 13 sep (Prensa Latina) El presidente sirio Ahmad Al-Shara, destacó hoy la profundidad y relevancia de las relaciones de su país con la Federación de Rusia, y calificó al país euroasiático como un actor fundamental en el orden internacional y aliado desde la independencia siria en 1946.

Debemos afrontar los desafíos del pasado con dinamismo, pero sin quedarnos anclados en él. Lo fundamental es que nuestras relaciones se basen en la soberanía siria y la independencia en la toma de decisiones, siempre priorizando los intereses nacionales, afirmó.

Al-Shara sostuvo que cualquier transformación en la estructura del Estado debe enmarcarse en una estrategia clara y definida, y subrayó que a Siria le conviene mantener relaciones estables y serenas con Rusia, sin descuidar su posicionamiento internacional más amplio.

En ese sentido, remarcó que Damasco ha logrado mantener buenas relaciones con Estados Unidos y países occidentales, al tiempo que ha fortalecido sus lazos con naciones de la región como Turkiye, Arabia Saudita, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Catar, Jordania, Líbano e Irak. Igualmente, subrayó avances importantes en la cooperación con Egipto.
