There is no room for evasion. Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. “Recognizing these facts is the first step toward a more just international order,” Fidan said during a speech at a conference of the Institute of International Relations held in Rome, according to the Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish Foreign Minister maintained that Israeli crimes are a moral test for international actors and warned of the consequences of remaining silent in the face of massacres against the Palestinian population.
He stressed that only a firm response based on international law will allow progress toward genuine and lasting peace in the region.
At the same forum, Fidan addressed the situation in Syria and said that the stability of that country is fundamental to peace and security in Europe. In this regard, he urged the international community to support the Syrian government’s efforts to rebuild its institutions and provide basic services to its population.
