According to the program announced at Salon de Mayo of the Pabellon Cuba exhibition center in this capital, the main venue for the event, 30 artists from the country’s different provinces and guests from seven nations, including Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Chile, and Spain, will share the stage.
The opening of the exhibition “Convergencia;” the launch of the book of the same name published by the RUTH Casa publisher; a theoretical event in which speakers will discuss the life and work of Inocente Iznaga, known as “El Jilguero de Cienfuegos;” and “La Controversia del Siglo,” 70 years after that epic encounter between two great Cuban improvisers: Jesus Orta Ruiz, known as El Indio Nabori, and Angelito Valiente stand out among the activities.
The Pabellon Cuba’s main stage will host the opening concert “Canciones con Pimienta,” featuring Buena Fe duet and Alexis Diaz-Pimienta, Honorary president of the festival.
In addition to Pabellon Cuba’s activities, an Entrepreneurs Fair is included in the program, and improvisers will visit the Manuel Saumell and Amadeo Roldan Music Schools.
The 4th Oralitura Habana Poetic Improvisation Meeting will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Controversy of the Century, the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Experimental Chair of Improvised Poetry, the 50th death anniversary of Francisco Riveron, and the 95th birthday of Inocente Iznaga.
