Israeli Army incursion reported in Southern Syria

Damascus, Sept 18 (Prensa Latina) An Israeli occupation force patrol entered the Brega Dam and the village of Al-Muallaqa, in the province of Quneitra, southwestern Syria. This new action is raising tensions in the border area, local sources reported to Syria TV.

According to reports, eight Israeli military vehicles, supported by airstrikes, were deployed in the vicinity of the Brega Dam, where they established a military checkpoint.

The forces prevented residents from accessing the dam, raising concerns among residents about a possible attempt to control the water supply to villages in the central part of the province.

Simultaneously, other Israeli units raided the village of Al-Muallaqa, also in Quneitra, where three military vehicles entered the area and remained there for more than two hours before withdrawing.

The troops took up positions in front of civilian homes but did not carry out searches or arrests. However, these maneuvers take place amid heightened tensions in southern Syria, where Israeli actions have intensified in recent months.

Syrian authorities have repeatedly denounced violations of the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement, which prohibits military incursions into the demilitarized zone between the two countries.

The Syrian government considers these actions part of a systematic policy of aggression and occupation, which endangers the security and stability of the region.

In international forums, Damascus has demanded an end to Israeli violations and urged the United Nations to enforce the relevant resolutions on Syrian sovereignty, particularly in the occupied Quneitra province and the Golan Heights.
