The military incursion and evacuation orders triggered new waves of displacement and forced traumatized families to relocate to an increasingly small area unfit for human dignity, Ghebreyesus wrote on his X profile.
The WHO chief warned, “Wounded or disabled people cannot reach safety, putting their lives in grave danger. Hospitals, already overwhelmed, are on the verge of collapse.”
The WHO director-general criticized the escalating violence, noting that it blocks access and prevents the arrival of vital supplies to save lives.
In response, Ghebreyesus renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to “these inhumane conditions.”
The WHO’s top official has repeatedly condemned Israel’s war campaign and called for its end.
He criticized a few years ago Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to reoccupy the Gaza Strip, a development he considered “deeply worrying given the humanitarian crisis its inhabitants are experiencing.”
